D3 vs D1 academic-fit programs

Many of the most academically selective swim programs — Williams, Emory, Kenyon, Denison, NYU — are Division III. D3 prohibits athletic scholarships but these schools offer powerful institutional need-based and merit aid. Some families find their net cost at a top D3 school is lower than a state school out-of-state. D1 Ivy League schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn) are need-blind and meet 100% of demonstrated need — and many families earning under $75,000/year pay nothing.
